We are delighted at the progress being made by the Vincent Wildlife Trust and Sussex Bat Group in their drive to raise funds to protect a newly discovered maternity colony of Horseshoe Bats in Sussex.  The bats have been absent from all but very few areas of the UK for many decades and the race is on to purchase and adapt the outbuildings where the new colony has been found.  The Southwood Foundation is supporting the project and we urge others to contribute whatever possible to this unique opportunity to re-establish the presence of these very rare bats across the South East of England.  Details and information on how to donate in this Guardian article:
