Rights of Nature have just taken a big step forward in the UK with Lewes District Council’s decision to support the Ouse Charter. The ground breaking document sets out a series of rights for the River Ouse as part of a concerted plan to protect and restore the river. The Charter is the result of workshops and consultations with communities and stakeholders along the length of the river catchment. We are delighted to be part of the steering group developing this work, which is led by Love Our Ouse. Members of the steering group include the Sussex Wildlife Trust, the Ouse and Adur Rivers Trust, the Lewes Railway Lands Trust and Lewes District Council.
